Beyond the Name: My Heart Against War

Hello, how are you all today? Please forgive me for only blogging again just now. It’s because I’ve been busy with some important matters.

But from now on, I will be post my blog again once  a month. I’ll start my blog now because I am feeling troubled; I can’t seem to understand what is happening to this world. There are wars and conflicts everywhere.

Did you know that my family name since birth is Guerra, which means War? Guerra is a Spanish word given to my ancestors by the Spaniards during the Spanish Era, which is how we ended up with this surname. Even though my last name is Guerra, I don't like war because I know it brings nothing good to the lives of the victims and, above all, it leads to economic collapse.

That is quite irony—having a name that means "War" while being someone who deeply values peace.

My heart breaks deeply whenever I see wars or conflicts in any part of the world. I stand for peace and the absence of strife; instead, I advocate for a thriving and prosperous economy.

The Consequences of Conflict: A Perspective from a "Guerra"

The world today feels increasingly fragile. As someone whose very name, Guerra, translates to "War," you might expect me to be desensitized to conflict. However, it is quite the opposite. My heritage gives me a unique lens through which to view the chaos currently unfolding across the globe, and frankly, my heart breaks for the future we are creating.

When we look at the consequences of war and civil unrest, we must look beyond the headlines. The impact is not just a momentary headline; it is a generational scar.

1. The Human Cost and the "Crushing of the Heart"

The most immediate and devastating result of war is the loss of innocent lives. When I say my "heart breaks," I am referring to the millions of displaced families, the children who lose their chance at an education, and the trauma that lingers long after the last bullet is fired. War creates a cycle of grief that can take decades to heal. It destroys the social fabric of a nation, replacing trust and community with fear and suspicion.

2. The Ruination of the Economy

As I mentioned in my previous thoughts, war is the ultimate enemy of prosperity. You cannot build a future on a battlefield.

• Infrastructure Destruction: Millions of dollars in buildings, roads, and power grids—years of hard work—are wiped out in seconds.

• Resource Diversion: Money that should be spent on healthcare, technology, and education is instead diverted to weapons and defense.

• Inflation and Scarcity: War disrupts supply chains, making basic needs like food and fuel unaffordable for the average citizen. A country at war is a country moving backward.

3. The Stagnation of Human Progress

I firmly advocate for a thriving economy because economic stability allows humanity to innovate. When a nation is at peace, its people can dream, invent, and grow. In contrast, war forces us into "survival mode." We stop looking at the stars and start looking for shelter. We lose the potential of the brilliant minds who are caught in the crossfire.

4. A Legacy of "Names" vs. Reality

My ancestors were given the name Guerra during the Spanish Era—a time of colonization and struggle. While I carry that name with respect for my history, I refuse to let it define my values. History shows us that while names remain, empires fall when they prioritize conquest over their people’s welfare.

Conclusion

My stance is clear: I am for peace. Not just because it is a moral ideal, but because it is the only practical way for the world to survive. We must move away from the "Guerra" of our past and toward a future defined by collaboration and economic growth. Without peace, there is no progress; without progress, there is no future.
